Washer-dryer: is it worth paying extra, and which models to buy
A washer-dryer takes up the space of one machine, but it dries only 5–7 kg per cycle and uses more electricity than a separate dryer. We compared the figures from the energy labels and put together a top 8 of models with prices as of 27 October 2026.
In short
- A washer-dryer dries less than it washes: most models dry 5 kg against 7–9 kg of washing. A full load of laundry will have to be split in half.
- A “wash + dry” cycle takes 6–10 hours and, according to the labels, uses 2.65–4.14 kWh, i.e. UAH 11–18 at the tariff of UAH 4.32. A 9 kg washing machine together with a heat-pump dryer handles almost twice as much laundry (9 kg instead of 5) for about 2 kWh.
- On the other hand, it is one machine instead of two. On 27 October 2026 a 9 kg Samsung washer-dryer cost UAH 34,999, while a 9 kg Samsung “washer + dryer” pair cost about UAH 60 thousand.
- The best balance in our top is the Electrolux EW7W4492U (UAH 33,999): the shortest wash-and-dry cycle (6 h 5 min) and the lowest water use. The cheapest decent option is the Beko BMM5DFO5741W at UAH 22,199.

Washer-dryer or a separate dryer
We compared the official data from the energy labels (product information sheets) of washer-dryers and of a separate heat-pump dryer. The main differences are in capacity, electricity and time.
Capacity: it dries less than it washes
A washer-dryer label shows two capacities: for washing and for the “wash + dry” cycle. For the Samsung WD90DG5G34, LG F2R5FG6J and Electrolux EW7W4492U they are 9 and 5 kg, for the Hisense and Miele 8 and 5 kg, for the Bosch WNA25401ME 10.5 and 6 kg. In other words, you can dry in one go 55–63% of what an 8–10.5 kg machine washes. The Beko BMM5DFO5741W dries 5 kg against 7 kg of washing. The exception is the Whirlpool FFWDB 976258: 9 and 7 kg.
A separate dryer has no such limitation: the Samsung DV90CGC2A0ABUA is rated for 9 kg, the same as a washing machine of that size.
Electricity: a separate heat-pump dryer is more economical
On the A–G scale, the “wash + dry” cycle of the washer-dryers in our top is rated D or E. Per cycle (averaged between full and half load) they use from 2.65 kWh (Electrolux, Beko, Hisense, Miele) to 3.26 (Samsung, LG) and 4.14 kWh (Whirlpool). At UAH 4.32 per kWh, that is UAH 11–18 for each wash with drying.
A “washing machine + heat-pump dryer” pair uses less. The Samsung WW90DG5G34ABLE washes on the “eco 40–60” programme for 0.444 kWh, and the Samsung DV90CGC2A0ABUA dryer dries a full 9 kg for 1.54 kWh. Together that is about 2 kWh, or UAH 8.6, and they handle up to 9 kg, not 5. The comparison is approximate: dryer and washer-dryer labels are calculated using different methods. But the difference is clear.
Water: drying in a washer-dryer uses it too
According to the labels, the “wash + dry” cycle takes 64–82 l of water, whereas the “eco 40–60” wash alone in the same machines takes 36–52 l. Miele, for example, states plainly that the WTD160 dries by condensation with water cooling.
Time: from 6 to 10 hours per cycle
According to the labels, washing with drying at full load takes from 6 h 5 min (Electrolux EW7W4492U) to 9 h 50 min (Whirlpool FFWDB 976258). For Samsung and Bosch it is 8 h 40 min. Separately, the Samsung washing machine runs the “eco 40–60” programme in 3 h 48 min, and the Samsung dryer dries a full load in 220 minutes. But the main point is different: while the first batch is drying, the second is already washing. If you do a lot of laundry, two machines win on time.
Price and space
A washer-dryer takes up the space of one washing machine, and it also comes with one warranty card and one socket. A separate dryer means another 60 × 60 cm of floor or a stack on top of the washing machine with a connecting kit.

At current prices a pair costs UAH 14–25 thousand more. The difference in electricity (about UAH 5 per cycle in favour of the pair) would pay this back over several thousand cycles, which in practice means never. So people buy a pair not to save money, but when they need to dry often and a lot.
What to check before buying
- Drying capacity, not just washing capacity: it is listed separately on the label. For a family of 3–4 people, 5 kg of drying per cycle is a noticeable limitation.
- The class of the “wash + dry” cycle (EEIWD). The label shows two: the first for washing, the second for washing with drying. Most machines are rated A for washing but D or E for washing with drying.
- The duration of the wash-and-dry cycle — on the label, in hours and minutes. The difference between the models in our top is almost 4 hours.
- Depth including the door. Washer-dryers are deeper than ordinary washing machines: 48–64 cm according to the label, and the door adds a few more centimetres.
- Spin noise. From 70 dB (Bosch, class A) to 80 dB (Whirlpool, class C). If the machine runs at night, the difference matters.
- A warranty valid in Ukraine. From 12 months (LG, Electrolux) to 36 (Samsung, Beko); check the motor warranty separately.

1. Electrolux EW7W4492U — the fastest and most economical of the mass-market models
UAH 33,999 at Rozetka and Foxtrot. 9 kg washing and 5 kg drying, spin up to 1,400 rpm. Washing with drying at full load takes 6 h 5 min — the shortest cycle in the top, and it uses the least water, 64 l. Energy: 2.653 kWh (class D). The spin is quiet, 72 dB. The downside is the 58 cm depth. Electrolux's general warranty in Ukraine is 12 months, but the manufacturer gives 10 years on this model's inverter motor.
2. Beko BMM5DFO5741W — the best value for money
UAH 22,199 at Rozetka and Foxtrot — the cheapest machine in the top. It washes 7 kg and dries 5, so you have to split the load for drying less than with 9 kg models. On energy for washing with drying (2.659 kWh, class D) it is on a par with the Electrolux; the cycle takes 7 hours. It dries by condensation. It is noisier than its rivals: 76 dB. In Ukraine Beko gives a 36-month warranty on washing machines and washer-dryers and 10 years on the ProSmart inverter motor.
3. Samsung WD90DG5G34 — quiet and shallow, but costly to dry
UAH 34,999 for the white (WD90DG5G34BELE) and black (WD90DG5G34BBLE) versions. As a washing machine it is one of the best: energy efficiency index 46.7 (comfortably class A), 72 dB spin, 48 cm depth. But washing with drying is class E: 3.256 kWh and 80 l of water, 8 h 40 min. In Ukraine Samsung gives a three-year warranty on washing machines and 10 years on the Digital Inverter motor for machines sold from 1 April 2026.
4. LG F2R5FG6J — the same as the Samsung, but faster
UAH 30,997 at Rozetka, 31,999 at Foxtrot. According to the label it is almost a twin of the Samsung: 9 and 5 kg, class E washing with drying, 3.256 kWh and 80 l. But the cycle is an hour shorter (7 h 40 min), and the spin is quieter — 71 dB. Depth 48 cm, 53.5 cm with the door. The downside is the warranty: 12 months on the machine plus additional cover for certain parts of the direct-drive motor.
5. Hisense WD3S8043BW3 — the most economical at washing
UAH 26,499 at Foxtrot (sold out at Rozetka on 27 October). According to the European label it has the lowest washing energy efficiency index in the top — 36.3, and only 36 l of water per “eco 40–60” cycle. For washing with drying it is class D, 2.657 kWh, but 80 l of water and almost 8 hours. 8 kg washing, 5 kg drying, 72 dB, 51 cm depth. The warranty according to the label is 24 months.
6. Bosch WNA25401ME — the largest and the quietest
UAH 56,699 at Rozetka. The only one in the top with a 10.5 kg drum and 6 kg drying. The quietest spin — 70 dB. Washing with drying: class D, 3.06 kWh, 82 l and 8 h 40 min. Depth 59 cm. The warranty according to the information sheet is 24 months. The premium for the brand and capacity is large: the 9/5 kg Electrolux costs UAH 22.7 thousand less.
7. Whirlpool FFWDB 976258 BV UA — dries 7 kg, but slowly
UAH 27,799 at Rozetka and Foxtrot. The main argument is 7 kg of drying against 9 kg of washing: the highest ratio in the top. And the strongest spin, 1,600 rpm (class A for residual moisture). The price for this is the longest cycle (9 h 50 min), the highest energy use (4.14 kWh, class E) and the loudest spin — 80 dB. The warranty according to the information sheet is 24 months.
8. Miele WTD160 WCS — premium at triple the price
UAH 99,599 at Foxtrot, 99,600 on the Miele website. The figures are good but not record-breaking: 8/5 kg, class D, 2.658 kWh, 68 l, a 6 h 29 min cycle, 71 dB spin at 1,500 rpm. The depth is the largest in the top — 64 cm. It dries by condensation with water cooling. The warranty according to the information sheet is 24 months.
Popular models without official data
These machines are also in the catalogues, but we could not find manufacturer information sheets for them, so we did not include them in the top:
- Hansa WDHG814481W (UAH 21,599, the cheapest from a well-known brand): 8 kg washing, 5 kg drying. Stores give contradictory consumption figures (from 0.91 to 6.45 kWh per cycle), and the manufacturer's website would not open on 27 October.
- Haier HWD90-B14367U1 (UAH 26,999): 9 kg washing and 6 kg drying, according to the store. This model is not on Haier's Ukrainian website.
- Mijia WD090MJA11UA (UAH 27,799): 9 kg washing and 6 kg drying, 36-month warranty, according to the stores. We could not find energy and water consumption figures.
